Re-Writing the rule book

As we all know, the English language is a strange one - words are not spelt how they sound, random n’s and s’s are thrown in with gay abandon and with a total disregard for any non-native chap attempting to learn the language. However luckily for many of us living in English speaking countries this is a problem for those we know little about, helpfully classed as ‘other people’. Where is this rambling diatribe going, I hear you cry. Well quite simply, here at Xero Technology we have our own lexicon, if I were to say to we had ‘Zero expansion’ then that would not be seen as a good thing however, using our finest scientists, engineers and wordsmiths we have yanked the Z away from that sentence and welded in an X, and changed the meaning so that zero expansion becomes XERO EXPANSION- a much, much better, happier, livelier and lets face it, exciting meaning (X’s are more fun than Z’s anyway- for example I bet the sentence ‘you pxxpxx can’t wxxx out whxx I’m saxxxx’ is more fun than zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz)

And this brings me to my point, the raison d'être of this blog - Xero has expanded; Matt and Dan have entered the building. Then we sat down, then had a cup of coffee and finally decided to write a blog. As the newest members of the young and exciting Xero Technology we thought it would be a great idea to keep our readership up to date about what it is that goes on at a young Zero Emission’s company with an energetic workforce and the not so small task of stemming the tide of global pollution. You see, although both of us want to make a change and feel lovely, warm and fuzzy inside because we work for a green company, we did not know a lot about electric vehicles and how they can be used to help the environment as well as all their positives like being cheaper to run and being pretty gosh darn snazzy. Well this is another purpose of our blog- as we learn hopefully so will you. Making a difference to the environment isn’t easy, but it’s a task for all of us and one none of us should shy away from, just by following our musings we hope to help change perceptions. Indeed as we are both in charge of Public Relations and Marketing the task of changing perceptions is pretty much our job description… hopefully we will not disappoint!
So just a few words upon the matter of our first week at Xero, looking back it has been quite an introduction and most of the adjectives I can think to describe it handily begin with an ‘f’- fun, friendly, frantic and find me an office! Settling down was a little harder to achieve than we first thought, mainly because our boss was stuck in Madrid because of our erstwhile Icelandic friends’ unpronounceable volcano (although I think the closest I can get to pronouncing it is by mashing my keyboard, so lets give it a go- Mount gjdsfdrgjwfepasjdaspwefbj caused the ash cloud). However on the upside of this, he did make a rather hilarious video on the matter, found here. Hopefully one day Iceland will get rid of the James Bond villain inhabiting their shores, setting it on fire and bankrupting the country for what I can only think is some sort of elaborate insurance fraud claim.
                                                                                                                        Dan and Matt

When Ollie (our boss) did finally turn up what a pleasure it was. Ollie is a very interesting and passionate man- a well educated, well spoken and, hell I’ll say it, handsome young man, so much so in fact that both of us are completely won over by these amazing little vehicles he produces (have a look at a the little profile we have made for him here ). We never had a clue for example exactly how economical they are- no road tax, no parking fees and no congestion charges- amazing! In fact we are getting a go at test driving the little beauties this week, something I am incredibly excited about and will report back on next week.

And this is the point, dear reader, we have spent our first week settling in and understanding our product. Thanks to the marvels of the internet, you now have the chance to do the same as we have pages all over the frankly frightening amount of social media available to us today- so please do check it out. But I am afraid that is all from us for now… we shall be writing again soon enough to let you know of our activities, news and plans for world domination.
Speak soon Green lovers,

Dan and Matt

One of our electric skateboards baffled passers-by recently by cruising up Totnes high street!  One of our customers decided what better way to peruse the local shops than to hop on his Xero eBoard Neo and zip up the high street for a bit of much needed window shopping!  Thankfully this was all caught on camera for us all to enjoy... click here to watch the video!...
